English Vocabulary

Learning English vocabulary is a basic and very important part of learning the language. Learning a new vocabulary word means more than just understanding what the word means. To really learn new English words, you must understand them and be able to use the words correctly when you speak or write.
 

Some English Vocabulary words and their meaning

Venture     Proceed somewhere despite the risk of possible dangers.

Intimate    Marked by close acquaintance, association, or familiarity

Assert       Declare or affirm solemnly and formally as true

Despair     A state in which all hope is lost or absent  

Manifest    Reveal its presence or make an appearance   

Notion        A general inclusive concept  

Oppress    Come down on or keep down by unjust use of one's authority

Content      Compete for something

Stake          A strong wooden or metal post driven into the ground
